Frequently Asked Questions
From the first trial lesson to what happens if you can't play one time.
Why not come join us sometime?
You can always try a trial lesson. Email us, and we’ll find a group at your child’s level that he or she can join for a session. We’ll lend you a racket, so you don’t have to buy anything yet. That way, you’ll know what you’re getting into before you sign up.
Before You Begin
About signing up, trial classes, and what you'll need.
Are trial lessons available?
Yes, we'd love that. We'll find a group at your child's level where he can participate once. You can decide after that.
Can I enroll my child during the school year?
You can do that any time of year. Email us, and we'll work with you to figure out when your child can start and which group is the best fit.
If you join on or after October 1, a revised monthly rate will apply. This is stated on the group's page.
What does my child need for class?
Sportswear and tennis shoes—that's all. We'll lend you a racket for the first few lessons, so you don't have to go to the store right away.
Is membership in LTC Startbaan required?
A membership gives you more than just lessons: you can courts the courts outside of your lesson times and participate in club activities and tournaments.
For the youth packages, you need a membership for the entire year. For seniors, a membership is required only for the outdoor summer classes, from April 1 to October 1; it is not required for the indoor winter classes. You arrange your membership directly with the club.

Where do the classes take place?

How long does a training session last?
One hour. You can warm up for the first ten minutes, and then the coach will come court the court .
Do classes continue during school breaks?
There are no practice sessions during the vacation weeks, but the courts available for recreational play.
There are also no classes on Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, and during the Open Startbaan Tournament. We’ll make up for the missed classes at a time to be announced by the coaches.
As a parent, can I come and watch?
You're always welcome to drop off and pick up your child, and the coach is available to talk to before or after class. At our tournaments, parents are actually encouraged to watch from the court.
Parents are not present during the training itself. This way, the children are less distracted and feel more confident about trying new things.
If something changes
About missed classes and dropping out during the season.
Can I make up a missed workout?
Talk it over with your trainer, and we'll see if there's an opening in another group at your level. That usually works out.
If that's not possible, the class will be canceled. That's because the court the instructor have been reserved for your group.
What if I want to quit during the season?
Your spot is transferable. In consultation with the trainers, you can have someone of roughly the same skill level take your place, and sometimes we have someone on the waiting list ourselves.
You cannot cancel the package early. The full terms and conditions are outlined in the training regulations.
What if you get injured or move?
Let us know, and we'll work together to find a solution. In that case, too, your spot is transferable to someone at the same level.
